To strengthen exchanges of high-level talents and expand disciplinary and academic cooperation, Professor Yang Minghui from Dalian University of Technology visited the College of Marine Science and Engineering, Shanghai Maritime University on October 18 for the joint appointment ceremony and academic lecture. Dong Chaoqun, Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee and Dean Feng Daolun attended the event, and faculty members and students of the college attended the lecture.
At the appointment ceremony, Dean Feng Daolun presented the appointment certificate to Professor Yang Minghui on behalf of the college. This joint appointment builds a new link for the college to introduce high-quality academic resources and deepen cooperation in scientific research and talent cultivation. Professor Yang Minghui delivered academic lectures focusing on “Functional Metal Nitride Materials” and “How to Write a Good Academic Paper”.
His research on functional metal nitride materials is closely connected with his long-term work on material design, performance regulation and environmental catalysis, offering opportunities for faculty and students in the college to learn about research advances in this field. The session on academic paper writing is closely aligned with practical research work. It provided valuable references for young teachers and postgraduate students on identifying research topics, organizing research outputs and improving academic writing.
Professor Yang Minghui is currently Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the School of Environmental Science and Technology, Dalian University of Technology, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He was funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (Type A) in 2025. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2010. His long-term research focuses on the design and synthesis of solid functional materials, crystal structure analysis and performance regulation, exploring their applications in sensors, environmental catalysis and other areas. His findings have been published in journals such as Nature Materials and Nature Chemistry.
Combining the appointment ceremony with an academic lecture, this event further strengthened the academic ties between the college and Professor Yang Minghui. Taking this joint appointment as an opportunity, the college will continue to strengthen connections with distinguished scholars, promote mutual progress in academic exchanges and talent training, and inject new momentum into disciplinary development and research innovation.
