To help students from all over the country break down interpersonal barriers, get familiar with their classmates quickly and strengthen their sense of collective belonging, under the overall planning of Counsellor Zhang Enbo, the College of Marine Science and Engineering launched a series of ice-breaking activities for undergraduate students of the Class of 2026.

Each major arranged activities suited to local conditions and held featured interactive events at venues such as the "One-Stop" Student Community and the outdoor football field. Some majors organized Bingo games. Students were given special worksheets and found matching classmates according to clues about hobbies and strengths on the cards to finish check-in tasks. Combined with disciplinary characteristics, a quality development game named "Chase on the Waterway" was launched, with mechanisms including identity swapping and gradual circle shrinking, helping students break the ice rapidly in the fun chase. Other majors held lawn team-building activities at night, arranging sessions such as song interactions, group cooperation and talent sharing.

Guided by the concept of low-pressure socialization, the activities mainly adopted light group interactions to reduce students’ worries about socializing. Students chatted freely about their college life in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.

The series of ice-breaking activities enabled many students to make new friends with similar hobbies and experiences. It effectively shortened the distance between students, enhanced the cohesion of majors and classes, and promoted the sound development of collective study and daily life.
