On September 28, the Ecological Civilization Study Society of the College of Marine Science and Engineering held its recruitment briefing in Classroom 3A202 of the Teaching Zone. Freshmen of Environmental Engineering, Class of 2026, took an active part, and the event featured a dynamic atmosphere for exchange.

Ding Yi, the faculty advisor of the society, delivered the keynote briefing. He gave a comprehensive introduction covering the society’s founding background, organizational structure, work scope and signature activities. Teacher Ding noted that the Ecological Civilization Study Society is a distinctive student society built by the Environmental Engineering program. It is mainly dedicated to publicizing and interpreting Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, delivering marine science popularization lectures, organizing beach clean-up and mangrove planting volunteer services, and carrying out environmental science outreach practices.

The society brings together outstanding student backbones of environmental disciplines from all grades. It pools collective wisdom to support major development and the growth of young students, and builds a high-quality platform for students to improve their capabilities in organization, coordination, communication and hands-on practice. He warmly welcomed freshmen to join the society and encouraged them to hone their skills, broaden their horizons and meet like-minded peers through society activities. He hoped that they could gain insights from learning, apply what they have learned, and contribute youthful wisdom and strength to building a beautiful China.

During the interactive session, participating freshmen said that they truly felt the care and expectations from faculty and seniors through this briefing. The activity brought them closer to senior students and laid a solid foundation for their future participation in academic seminars and professional practices. The students looked forward to improving themselves with the support of the study society and developing a more comprehensive understanding of Environmental Engineering.

This recruitment briefing constitutes an important part of the multi-dimensional “Party-Youth League-Community” education practice of the Department of Marine Environment. It helps freshmen understand and identify with their major, improves the quality of professional talent training, and promotes high-quality growth of students.
