To further foster the patriotism of teachers and students and carry forward the red heritage, the College of Marine Science and Engineering has innovated educational approaches and organized a series of red-themed educational activities for different groups of teachers and students. Through diverse forms including on-site study tours, immersive experiences and artistic edification, the activities guide young students to learn from the spirit of martyrs and draw strength for forging ahead.
On-site study tours at red venues consolidate faith. Representatives of freshmen were organized to visit the Nicheng Red Theme Exhibition Hall. Amid historical exhibits, they reviewed the extraordinary history of the Nicheng Uprising and revolutionary struggles in Pudong. Teachers and students stood in silent tribute in front of the Martyrs Memorial Wall to honor revolutionary predecessors. A mini League class was held on site at the exhibition hall, enabling young students to perceive the noble integrity of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for justice in the real historical setting, and cherish the hard-won peaceful life today.
Meanwhile, postgraduate Party members majoring in hydraulic engineering visited the Former Residence of Martyr Li Xuezhou. They viewed the martyr’s relics and learned about his devotion to saving the nation with professional expertise. The visit inspires postgraduate Party members to internalize the red spirit and translate their aspiration to serve the country into scientific research and academic pursuits.
Immersive experiences revitalize red education. A red role-playing activity was held for student cadres. Youth participants stepped into historical roles and experienced the revolutionary predecessors’ devotion to the country through scenario performance, which further strengthened their sense of responsibility. An artistic Party lecture was arranged for new postgraduate Party members. They watched the red dance drama Eternal Wave together, understanding the loyalty and fearlessness of workers on the covert front, reinforcing their awareness of Party membership and consolidating their ideological foundation.
Covering freshmen, student cadres, postgraduate Party members and other groups, this series of activities helps the spirit of martyrs take root in participants’ minds. It encourages students of the College of Marine Science and Engineering to remember history and turn patriotism into practical actions of diligent study and persistent progress.
