To guide students to better engage in their studies and daily life, consolidate the development of academic atmosphere and build a solid campus safety line of defence, the College of Marine Science and Engineering held a themed educational evening roll call entitled “Nurture Minds with Sound Academic Ethic, Stay Safe Along the Way” on October 11. Delivered by Counsellor Zhang Enbo, the session was attended by all undergraduate students of the Class of 2026. Special education was carried out focusing on academic atmosphere development, dormitory safety, anti-fraud warning and campus traffic safety.
At the roll call, Teacher Zhang sorted out the curriculum arrangement for this semester and stressed the importance of punctuality. He guided students to adopt a positive learning attitude and reasonably plan their study schedule. In the safety education part, Teacher Zhang gave lectures on electricity safety and tobacco control in dormitories, advocating healthy and civilized living habits to jointly maintain a safe accommodation environment. Combined with recent frequent campus fraud cases, he analyzed common fraud tactics such as rebate brushing tasks, fake campus loans, fake customer service refunds and game account transactions. He reminded students to protect their personal identity information, bank card passwords and mobile verification codes, follow the principle of “do not trust easily, do not disclose information and do not transfer money”, and contact counsellors immediately in case of suspicious situations so as to improve the ability to identify and prevent fraud. Besides, reminders were given on abiding by campus traffic rules and standardizing riding and parking.
Integrating academic guidance with safety education, this evening roll call further strengthened students’ awareness of discipline and bottom-line thinking on safety. It is expected that all students will enjoy a safe and fulfilling college life.
