To further implement the university’s comprehensive reform plan, Vice President Yin Ming led a team to conduct special summer‑time research at Shanghai Ocean Bureau and CSSC Haizhou System Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CSSC Haizhou) on August 17 and 19. The team conducted field investigations into talent demands in fields including marine green‑low‑carbon governance, smart ocean perception and deep‑sea equipment. Relevant officials and faculty representatives from the Human Resources Department and the College of Marine Science and Engineering took part in the research activities.
During the visits, on behalf of the university, Vice President Yin Ming expressed gratitude for the long‑term care and support provided by partner institutions. He stated that the university is earnestly implementing requirements from the Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education (2024‑2035) concerning deepening integration of industry‑education and improving independent talent cultivation quality. The university actively aligns itself with national strategies including the construction of Shanghai as a modern marine city and the localization of shipbuilding industrial software. Giving full play to its distinctive disciplinary strengths in shipping, logistics and marine science, the university will build long‑term cooperation platforms covering joint talent training, collaborative scientific research, co‑construction of practical‑training bases, and joint development of courses and teaching materials. Efforts will be made to improve independent talent cultivation and foster high‑quality interdisciplinary talents matching the demands of marine and ship‑building industries.
Jin Hongsong, Deputy Director of Shanghai Ocean Bureau, introduced that Shanghai has restored 34 kilometers of coastline and 320 hectares of sea areas in total. The industry is in urgent need of professionals with practical capabilities in ecological restoration planning, field monitoring and operation‑maintenance management. It is expected that both sides will deepen cooperation in marine ecological restoration monitoring and assessment, marine disaster early‑warning and forecasting, environmental impact assessment for offshore new‑energy projects, and measurement standards for marine carbon sinks. Both sides may jointly build field practice bases for coastal ecology, bring real‑world cases on Xi Jin‑ping Thought on Ecological Civilization into classroom teaching, and offer industrial support for marine‑related talent training and building a powerful maritime nation.
Zhu Yu, Party Secretary of CSSC Haizhou, introduced that the company has released Coral Marine 2.0 digital‑design platform, Hupo PLM 2.0 full‑life‑cycle management platform and Haixing Foundation 1.0 basic common‑platform, realizing full‑professional CAD/CAE integration which has been verified on real ships at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Shipyard International. Nevertheless, some bottleneck technical challenges still exist at the bottom of the industrial chain. He looked forward to in‑depth university‑enterprise cooperation covering competency standards for interdisciplinary talents for domestic ship‑building industrial software, industry‑education collaborative training mechanisms, co‑construction of practical‑training bases, mutual appointment of industrial tutors, and integrating domestic ship‑building software into university courses.
This research activity is an important measure for the university to implement the municipal education commission’s requirement of field research to gather industrial needs and suggestions in summer vacation. The university will sort out demand lists, problem lists and suggestion lists collected from the field trips, translate research outcomes into links connecting talent cultivation, discipline development, scientific innovation and industrial development, and facilitate high‑quality development of the university.
