Recently, the 10th National Teaching Competition for Young Teachers of Water Conservancy Majors, jointly sponsored by the China Water Conservancy Education Association and the Teaching Advisory Board for Water Conservancy Majors of Institutions of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, successfully concluded. As an authoritative and influential teaching event in national water conservancy education, the competition gathered outstanding young teachers from more than 100 universities across the country. The comprehensive and professional evaluation covered teaching design, classroom instruction, teaching innovation, curriculum ideological and political integration, and professional literacy, fully demonstrating the teaching competence and educational demeanor of young teachers in the new era.
The port and waterway group competition was held at Ocean University of China from July 17 to 19. Zhao Shan, a teacher from the Department of Port, Waterway and Coastal Engineering of the College of Marine Science and Engineering, represented Shanghai Maritime University in the competition. After two rounds of comprehensive evaluation including teaching presentation, simulated classroom teaching and teaching innovation achievement display, Zhao Shan stood out among numerous contestants. With solid teaching skills, rigorous teaching design, vivid classroom delivery, distinctive engineering teaching characteristics and outstanding innovative teaching capabilities, she finally won the first prize.
The award is a testament to Zhao Shan’s dedication to teaching and rigorous preparation for the competition. It also reflects the college’s long-term emphasis on undergraduate teaching quality and the professional development of young teachers.
