To thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on developing and practicing a correct view of political performance, and guide graduating Party members to “button up the first button” for their professional careers, the College of Marine Science and Engineering held the Departure‑Education Conference and Party‑Spirit Education Activity for 2026 graduating Party Members in the lecture hall of the Scientific Research Building on the afternoon of June 17. Wang Yiwei, Party Secretary of the college, attended and delivered a special Party lecture.
Entitled “Take Solid Responsibility, Strive for Maritime Power, and Promote High‑Quality Development with a Correct View of Political Performance”, the special Party lecture put forward three expectations for all Party members. First, they should study the basic tenets of Marxism in depth, continuously strengthen their ideals and convictions as Party members, and temper their Party‑spirit attainment. Second, they should aspire to be firm practitioners of the Party’s innovative theories. They should apply the six “must‑upholds” — putting the people first, maintaining self‑confidence and self‑reliance, upholding fundamental principles while breaking new ground, adopting a problem‑oriented approach, applying systematic thinking, and maintaining a global vision — in daily study and practice. They shall integrate the “individual self” into the “greater self”, and foster the dedication embodied in the spirit of “It does not have to be me to accomplish great deeds, but I must do my part for them”. Third, they shall deliver solid achievements and enhance competence through hard‑work, uphold a bottom‑line awareness of integrity, button up “the first button of life”, and take the initiative to march forward in the great endeavor of building China into a great maritime and shipping power.
Zhang Panlong, full‑time organizer of the college Party Committee, gave a detailed interpretation of principles and procedures for transferring Party‑member organizational relations for graduates, administration of Party members studying or going abroad, and solutions to frequently‑encountered problems.
At the meeting, to further consolidate outcomes from education on developing a correct view of political performance and strengthen Party‑spirit education, Zuo Wenliang, Deputy Secretary of the Student Party Branch, led participating Party members to review the Party admission oath. Liu Zhanting from Class Marine Engineering 221 delivered a speech as a representative of graduating Party members, sharing his thoughts on ideals and convictions and the vanguard and exemplary role of Party members.
Prior to the conference, graduating Party members collectively visited the Exhibition on Chen Yun’s Life and Career and watched Episode 3 “Strong Party Spirit” of a documentary series.
