On the afternoon of June 3, undergraduate students of the Class of 2024 from the College of Marine Science and Engineering organized a special academic tutoring activity titled “Marine Help Session” focusing on ship fluid mechanics. Invited as the speaker, Song Zijie from the Class of 2024 delivered a special lecture. Oriented by peer guidance and thematic tutoring, the activity aimed to help students systematically sort out key course knowledge, break through learning difficulties, and further foster a sound academic atmosphere of mutual assistance and common progress.

Based on refined course courseware, Song Zijie systematically elaborated on ten core modules of ship fluid mechanics, including Newton’s law of internal friction, total hydrostatic pressure and pressure center, stream function and potential function, Bernoulli’s equation, vortex theory, potential flow superposition, wave theory, physical significance of the N-S equation, similarity theory, and boundary layer theory. Combined with typical exercises, he focused on analyzing common question types such as velocity distribution between flat plates, hydrostatic pressure on curved surfaces, induced velocity of horseshoe vortices, and velocity conversion in model tests, helping students clarify problem-solving logic and avoid common errors.

During the Q&A session, students raised active and targeted questions, covering the differentiation of streamlines and pathlines, judgment of virtual and real pressure bodies, identification methods of laminar and turbulent flow, and selection principles of Froude number and Reynolds number in model tests. Song Zijie answered each question patiently and expanded on common academic problems, creating an in-depth and lively on-site discussion atmosphere.

Adhering to the concept of peer mutual assistance and knowledge inheritance, the ongoing “Marine Help Session” series has achieved remarkable educational effects. This special tutoring session effectively helped students consolidate their professional foundation and build confidence in examinations and academic learning. In the future, the college will continuously improve its academic support system to help all students make steady progress in professional study and discipline development.
