To actively respond to the national maritime power strategy and precisely meet the needs of the high-quality development of Nantong’s marine economy, Professor Feng Daolun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the College of Marine Science and Engineering, led a team to Nantong from May 28 to 30, 2026. The delegation attended the first plenary meeting of the Nantong Marine Engineering Technology Innovation Consortium and carried out enterprise visits and investigations. Taking the in-depth integration of industry, university and research as the starting point, the college further deepened school-local collaborative cooperation and built a high-quality employment and development platform for graduates.
At the inaugural plenary meeting of the innovation consortium, Dean Feng Daolun accepted the official plaque on behalf of the college, marking that the College of Marine Science and Engineering of Shanghai Maritime University has officially become a core member unit of the consortium. Afterwards, Dean Feng delivered a special report titled Research Progress on Deep-sea Equipment Materials. He systematically introduced the college’s research achievements and development directions in the field of high-end marine equipment materials, with a focus on the core technical demands of the industry including green and low-carbon development, intelligence and corrosion resistance.
During the visit, accompanied by Lv Xuewei from the Development and Reform Commission of Chongchuan District, Nantong, Dean Feng and his delegation visited Nantong Yatai Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. and Nantong Haijing Ship Decoration Co., Ltd. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on joint talent training, internship base construction and employment promotion, reaching a number of cooperation consensus.
This field trip to Nantong serves as an important measure for the college to deepen school-local cooperation and advance the integration of industry, university and research. In the future, relying on the innovation consortium as a key platform, the college will integrate scientific research resources, gather talent strengths, and focus on the research and development as well as achievement transformation of deep-sea equipment technology. It will contribute maritime wisdom to the transformation and upgrading of Nantong’s ship and marine engineering industry, and boost the high-quality development of the local marine economy.
