Ding Yi, Part-time Faculty Counselor of the College of Marine Science and Engineering, Convenes Mobilization & Deployment Meeting for Summer Social Practice on Marine Environment

On May 31, Ding Yi, part-time faculty counselor from the College of Marine Science and Engineering, convened the mobilization and deployment meeting for summer social practice focusing on marine environment. All supervising teachers and student team members of the programs attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Teacher Ding Yi first introduced the official notice of SMU’s 2026 “Visiting Hundred Ports & Thousands of Enterprises” Summer Social Practice Program, elaborating on key requirements item by item. She urged all Party and League members to tailor practical plans closely to industrial demands and disciplinary features, launching high-standard social practices with distinctive positioning and tangible expected outcomes. Students are expected to leverage their professional expertise to tackle practical difficulties for cooperating enterprises, create more internship and employment channels for classmates, and advance the integration of industry, university and research.

Teacher Gao Rui put forward relevant requirements as well. She asked students to clarify work allocation and milestone deadlines for proposal compilation, conduct preliminary investigations and careful planning in advance, and combine classroom theories with real-world problem-solving. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, participants shall promote marine ecological civilization during fieldwork, popularize the significance of marine environmental protection, and practice the philosophy of building a maritime community with a shared future. Students shall carry forward the pragmatic spirit of the marine environment major featuring service-oriented awareness and outstanding contribution, integrate survey findings with scientific innovations, and make unremitting efforts to boost industrial upgrading and disciplinary development.

Environmental major students present at the meeting pledged to refine task division, schedule progress properly, integrate specialized knowledge into on-site practice, strive for high-quality research outputs, advance school-enterprise integration of education and production, and improve the overall effectiveness of summer social practice.
