On May 16, the Student Party Branch of Marine Environment organized representatives of Party and League members to carry out an environmental science popularization volunteer activity for Campus Open Day at the college’s Environmental Monitoring Laboratory. Ding Yi, Secretary of the Student Party Branch of Marine Environment, served as the supervising teacher for the volunteer program.
During the volunteer service, Party and League members divided work and collaborated closely, embodying the coordination spirit of Party building guiding League development. Working as environmental science popularization volunteers and laboratory safety education instructors, branch members demonstrated the operating methods and basic principles of beakers, graduated cylinders and conventional water quality monitoring instruments to visiting primary and secondary school students on site. Under volunteers’ guidance, children got to experience water pH measurement and water sampling for the constructed wetland-based aquatic ecological restoration system, exploring the wonders of chemical changes and gaining a deeper understanding of the significance of environmental protection.
Many young visitors noted that it was their first close access to university laboratory knowledge. After professional explanations, they fully recognized the importance of environmental protection and laboratory safety training, and expressed their willingness to engage in environmental engineering and chemical analysis in the future to contribute to the lucid waters and lush mountains of Beautiful China.
Ding Yi, Party Branch Secretary, further elaborated on the connotation and development prospects of the Environmental Engineering major to visiting students and parents. She detailed the development history, faculty resources and talent cultivation achievements of the Department of Marine Environment, and introduced relevant admission data and college application suggestions for students preparing for the high school entrance examination and college entrance examination, encouraging them to achieve satisfying exam results.
In recent years, the Student Party Branch of Marine Environment has earnestly implemented the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. It coordinates efforts among Party branch, League branch and student associations to promote and practice Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization. The branch regularly organizes environmental science outreach, volunteer services and scientific innovation activities to improve students’ practical capabilities, consolidate their professional identity and accelerate the transformation of research achievements into practical applications.
