On the afternoon of April 29, the college held its Monthly Lecture and a collective session on political theory study in the lecture hall of the Research Building. Chen Yunlong, a teacher from the Teaching and Research Office of Party History and Party Building of the Party School of the CPC Shanghai Huangpu District Committee, was invited as the keynote speaker. Wang Weiyi, Secretary of the College Party Committee, presided over the session.
Chen Yunlong provided a systematic guided reading of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Volume V, the authoritative work encapsulating the latest achievements of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He emphasized that studying, publicizing, and implementing this volume is a major political task for both the present and future. Against the backdrop of profound changes unseen in a century and the complex environment confronting national development, Chen analyzed regional hotspots, conflicts, and other international dynamics. He focused on guiding the audience through the core theoretical knowledge of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Volume V by deeply understanding its publication background, systematically grasping its overall framework, comprehending its major judgments, and fully mastering its practical requirements. He also elaborated on the contemporary significance of learning and implementing the work. In conjunction with the Party-wide campaign on Establishing and Practicing a Correct View on Performance, Chen expounded on General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on this topic from three dimensions: 1. The strategic considerations behind launching the campaign. 2. The core issues and basic requirements for establishing and practicing a correct view on performance. 3. Ensuring the effective implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan with a correct view on performance.
Secretary Wang Weiyi stressed in his concluding speech that all faculty and staff should thoroughly implement the general requirements of studying the authoritative work and relevant learning education, strive to gain in-depth understanding and thorough comprehension, and put forward three requirements: First, focus on the university’s central work, pool efforts and wisdom, and strengthen the sense of responsibility in integrating knowledge with action, so as to foster a high consciousness of striving to be pioneers. Second, adhere to a problem-oriented approach, target the pain points and difficulties existing in each Party branch and each major, and give full play to the role of a battle fortress in breaking through bottlenecks restricting development. Third, adopt a proactive attitude and a down-to-earth work style, take improving the satisfaction of teachers and students as the goal, and steadily advance the systematic project of delivering practical services for the people.
