To build a school-enterprise collaborative education platform and help students of marine-related majors clarify career paths, the third installment of the series Harbor Young Dreams, Navigate Toward the Blue Ocean was successfully held by the College of Marine Science and Engineering, Shanghai Maritime University on April 22, 2026. The event invited distinguished guests including Zhao Wenming, Deputy Director of the University Infrastructure Department; Dong Chaoqun, Deputy Party Secretary of the College; Liu Peng, part-time faculty counselor from the Infrastructure Department; Zhao Yiqing, Deputy Manager of Human Resources Department of the Third Branch of China Construction Second Engineering Bureau; Gu Mingming, Project Party Secretary of SMU Expansion Project; and Wu Xubang, Chief Engineer of the Project. Centered on industrial experience sharing and campus recruitment briefing, the event delivered substantial career guidance for participating students. It was co-hosted by college counselor Lei Mengyu and part-time faculty counselor Liu Peng.
At the opening, Zhao Wenming, an experienced administrator engaged in campus infrastructure construction, introduced all invited guests. Combining the construction progress of Lingang Campus Expansion Project of Shanghai Maritime University, he illustrated the core role of port and waterway professionals in infrastructure development, helping students connect classroom knowledge with industrial practice.
Later, Wu Xubang, Chief Engineer of SMU Expansion Project under the Third Branch of China Construction Second Engineering Bureau, shared career development routes for engineering technical posts based on on-site project experience. He elaborated on key technical applications and core competency requirements in the construction sector, encouraging students to consolidate specialized expertise and practical capabilities for future career development. Zhao Yiqing, Deputy HR Manager, focused on corporate recruitment standards of the central enterprise, outlined career prospects and promotion paths for core positions such as intelligent construction and engineering management. She also offered targeted advice on resume polishing, interview skills and career planning, facilitating precise talent matching between the university and the enterprise.
As a key component of the college’s career development program, this activity marks another fruitful practice of school-enterprise cooperation.
