Harbor Young Dreams, Navigate Toward the Blue Ocean —— Career Empowerment Activity (II) Pioneering & Anchoring in the Blue Ocean Held by the College of Marine Science and Engineering

To precisely meet the academic development needs of students majoring in Port, Waterway and Coastal Engineering, help young students clarify their postgraduate admission directions and consolidate their professional identity, the College of Marine Science and Engineering of Shanghai Maritime University successfully held the second phase of the Pioneering & Anchoring in the Blue Ocean career empowerment series — a postgraduate entrance examination experience sharing session on April 17, 2026. Lu Xinyi, admitted to the Master of Hydraulic Engineering program at Shanghai Maritime University, and Huang Xiangyu, admitted to the Master of Hydraulic Engineering program at Hohai University, were invited as guest speakers to deliver a practical and informative guide on postgraduate preparation and academic growth for participating students.

 Combining the disciplinary characteristics of Hydraulic Engineering at Shanghai Maritime University, Lu Xinyi mainly interpreted advantageous research directions including port, coastal and offshore engineering as well as hydraulic structure engineering, and elaborated on professional course review strategies and re-examination preparation skills for the postgraduate entrance examination. Focusing on scientific postgraduate exam planning, Huang Xiangyu shared the training features and academic strengths of the Hydraulic Engineering discipline at Hohai University. He provided practical guidance on university selection, review schedule arrangement, and the balanced preparation of public and professional courses. He also suggested students pay attention to emerging research fields such as smart water conservancy and marine disaster prevention and mitigation, so as to build a compound knowledge system in advance.

 In the interactive Q&A session, the two seniors answered questions concerning university selection criteria, reference book selection for professional courses, and introductory scientific research methods. They offered targeted suggestions based on personal experience, creating a vibrant and interactive atmosphere on site.

 As an important part of the college’s Harbor Young Dreams, Navigate Toward the Blue Ocean career empowerment program, this sharing session has built a high-quality platform for students to exchange postgraduate admission experience. In the future, the college will continue to integrate high-quality resources both on and off campus. Through diversified forms such as postgraduate experience sharing sessions, academic salons and industrial mentor lectures, it will provide systematic guidance for both further study and employment, escorting students’ academic advancement and career development.
