To popularize scientific knowledge and spark teenagers’ passion for science in Lingang New Area while giving play to the exemplary leading role of Party members, the popular science lecturers from the Postgraduate Party Branch of Marine Materials entered Jianping Lingang Primary School (Molli Road Campus) and delivered a science lecture themed The Super Armor of Deep-sea Warriors.
Combining the practical exploration of the manned submersible Shenhai Yongshi (Deep Sea Warrior), Zhu Jiaxin illustrated the working principles of deep-sea operation equipment in plain language with concrete cases. With easy-to-follow explanations, vivid pictures and impressive videos, he reviewed the development of China’s manned submersibles: from scratch, from following others to keeping pace, and taking the lead globally in certain fields.Branch members interacted warmly with pupils and answered questions patiently. They encouraged the children to inherit the pioneering spirit of senior scientists who strove relentlessly for breakthroughs and forge ahead with sincere patriotism. The youngsters gained a deep understanding that national prosperity relies on scientific and technological innovation as well as persistent dedication of generations of researchers.
The popular science lecture not only sowed the seeds of science in children’s hearts, but also stimulated their curiosity and desire to explore the unknown ocean fields. Taking the opportunity of building a model Party branch, the Postgraduate Party Branch of Marine Materials will give full play to its professional characteristics, promote the in-depth integration of Party building and professional work, and continuously innovate Party building forms. It will contribute wisdom and strength to the cultivation of marine science and technology talents and write a new chapter in serving the construction of a powerful maritime nation with youthful responsibility.
