To effectively promote academic culture development in the new semester and foster an atmosphere of diligent learning, active thinking and mutual progress, the College of Marine Science and Engineering held an academic style construction seminar for Grade 2025 students at the one-stop student community of Buildings 60 and 61 on the afternoon of April 1. Counselor Peng Yujie and study monitors of all Grade 2025 classes attended the event.
At the meeting, based on the actual class performance of the last semester, the study monitors thoroughly analyzed existing shortcomings in terms of class attendance, learning initiative, academic assistance, and examination discipline. They also exchanged ideas on stimulating learning motivation and building a sound academic atmosphere. In view of this semester’s academic construction work, students put forward a series of practical and implementable suggestions tailored to disciplinary characteristics and students’ needs. The proposals include establishing a resource sharing library managed by study monitors to integrate and circulate learning materials, launching incentive mechanisms for dormitory-grade-point improvement, and setting up awards for the most improved students and top-performing students. Certificates of “Academic Role Model” will also be presented to outstanding students who are willing to help their peers. These measures aim to enhance learning effectiveness while strengthening students’ sense of participation and achievement.
After listening carefully to the sharing, the counselor praised the study monitors for their practical thinking and constructive suggestions. She encouraged each class to pursue innovative approaches and foster a positive atmosphere, so that good academic conduct can be truly embraced and put into practice.
The seminar clarified the roadmap for academic style construction in the new semester, further stimulated the initiative and creativity of student leaders in optimizing the academic atmosphere, and laid a solid foundation for fostering a positive, diligent and pragmatic learning environment.
