To thoroughly implement the publicity and education requirements of World Water Day and China Water Week, the School of Marine Science and Engineering and the Logistics Center jointly launched the themed activity National Water Network · Century Scroll at Beiyuan Life Plaza on March 25. Through immersive experiences and interactive popular science sessions, the activity guided teachers and students to foster the awareness of water conservation and protection, build consensus on water security, and demonstrate the sense of responsibility and mission of students majoring in marine science.
Organized by the college's Little Crabapple Volunteer Service Team together with the Student Union and the League Branch of Environmental Science, the event featured four interactive zones tailored to the college's strengths in marine science and environmental engineering: water knowledge quiz, postcard message writing, mystery box lottery, and NST tag planting experience. The combination of knowledge and fun made the science popularization engaging and informative.In the quiz zone, questions focused on national water network development, water resource protection and marine ecological management. Staff gave detailed explanations after each question, translating professional expertise into plain language to help participants better understand the theme. Those who answered no fewer than three questions correctly qualified for premium mystery box draws, and could also make personalized water-saving tags and take part in cup planting. Participants with one or two correct answers received regular mystery boxes. Everyone gained knowledge and inspiration, enabling water-saving ideas to take root in a relaxed atmosphere.
During the DIY experience session, under the patient guidance of volunteers, students carefully decorated hanging tags, sowed seeds gently, and watered the plants with precise dosage. Through hands-on practice, they truly perceived the close connection between small daily water usage and the national grand water network, and deeply understood the profound implication that every drop of water matters to ecological security.The water-saving message postcard hanging area set up at the venue became a highlight of the activity. Teachers and students stopped to write down their expectations and commitments to water resource protection. Sincere messages gathered into youthful vows of guarding lucid waters and lush mountains, allowing the concepts of cherishing, loving and protecting water to be conveyed through writing and take root in everyone’s heart.
The event also welcomed two young teachers from Lingang Jianping Primary School. They remarked that the activity effectively integrated professional features with environmental education, setting a fine example for science popularization among teenagers. They looked forward to in-depth cooperation in water science education and practical activities in the future. Both sides will jointly explore new approaches to collaborative education among universities, primary and secondary schools, consolidate teenagers' awareness of ecological and environmental protection, and spread the idea of water conservation and protection.
As a key platform for talent cultivation in marine disciplines, the Youth League Committee of the School will take this activity as an opportunity to further advance ecological science popularization and practical education. Giving full play to the role of the Little Crabapple Volunteer Service Team, the committee will carry out regular featured activities on water science popularization and environmental protection practice. These efforts guide young students to base themselves on their majors and take proactive responsibilities, internalizing and practicing the obligation of water conservation. With youthful vitality, students will safeguard water resources, strengthen urban water security, and contribute to the high-quality development of water conservancy and the construction of a beautiful China.
