To further help students clarify their academic goals, the themed evening roll call titled No Longer an NPC, Be the Protagonist of Your Life for undergraduates of the 2024 grade was successfully held by the School of Marine Science and Engineering on the evening of March 8, 2026. The activity was presided over by counselor Zhu Diyao.
At the beginning of the activity, the counselor systematically reviewed the academic performance of the last semester, analyzing the failure status, grade distribution, and the proportion of students with a GPA of 3.0 and above across the four majors. Combined with the curriculum characteristics of each discipline, she released academic early warnings for the sophomore spring semester. She reminded students to attach great importance to challenging core courses, take the initiative to identify and make up for academic deficiencies, consolidate their professional foundation, and avoid falling behind passively.
"You write your own story and plan your own future." To help students clarify their development directions, the counselor analyzed four main career paths: postgraduate entrance examination, recommendation for postgraduate study, employment, overseas study, and civil service and public institution recruitment. She explained the features, key preparations and time schedules for each path, stressing that the second semester of the sophomore year is a critical period for career planning. Students were advised to set goals as early as possible and take prompt action to build up capabilities for the future, so as to truly become the protagonist of their own lives.
In terms of code of conduct, the counselor reiterated daily requirements concerning classroom discipline and dormitory safety management. Combining recent typical cases, she focused on explaining anti-fraud safety knowledge and urged students to strengthen their awareness of risk prevention.“A protagonist not only sets goals, but also upholds self-discipline and bottom lines.” She encouraged students to regulate their words and deeds with high standards, actively participate in various college activities, make full use of available resources to improve academic performance, and take primary responsibility for their own growth.
This well-structured and focused evening roll call reviewed the achievements and shortcomings of academic atmosphere construction in the last semester, and clarified the learning orientation and development paths for the new semester, providing clear guidance for students’ study and life in the second semester of their sophomore year. All students are expected to take this opportunity to adjust their status promptly, immerse themselves in a positive learning atmosphere, make scientific plans for academic study and daily life, and forge ahead steadily with continuous progress.
