To help students of marine-related majors gain an in-depth understanding of the current development of their disciplines and the employment prospects of matching jobs, and strengthen their sense of professional identity, the School of Marine Science and Engineering organized an enterprise research activity from January 14 to 15, 2026. Led by counselors Lei Mengyu and Peng Yujie, 23 students visited two benchmark enterprises in the industry, namely Zhoushan Xinya Ship Repair Co., Ltd. and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd., to closely learn about the development trends of the marine engineering industry.

At Zhoushan Xinya Ship Repair Co., Ltd., the team visited the company's exhibition hall on site. As a leading private enterprise in China's ship repair industry, the company's executives introduced its core capacity of repairing 450 vessels annually, as well as its technological advantages in repairing container ships, oil tankers and other types of vessels. During the visit, students learned about the enterprise's recruitment requirements, and gained a clear understanding of the standardized workflows and green development trends of the ship repair industry.

The research conducted at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd. centered on high-end shipbuilding, ship repair and technological innovation. Guided by the company's technical experts, the students visited key facilities such as the intelligent coating platform in the ship conversion workshop, and watched the operation of advanced equipment including ultra-high pressure water rust removal robots and digital measuring devices.A major highlight of the activity was the experience sharing by Ge Ziyang and Zhang Yunshi, graduates of the Marine and Ocean Engineering program of the class of 2024. Drawing on their hands-on experience in ship maintenance projects, the two alumni exchanged ideas covering job adaptation, skill enhancement and career planning. They elaborated on how to bridge academic learning and workplace practice, as well as their personal gains from on-site project.

Student Sun Hao said, "From the large-scale ship repair capacity of Xinya to the technological innovation achievements of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, the strength of the marine engineering industry in Zhoushan has reinforced my resolve to pursue this major."This field visit has built a practical bridge for collaborative education between the college and enterprises. Going forward, the college will optimize its talent training programs based on feedback from participating companies, and guide students to devote themselves to the marine engineering industry and realize their personal value.
