To enrich the campus cultural life and pay attention to the mental health and emotional growth of college students, the 25th grade of the College of Marine Science and Engineering held a evening roll call activity with the theme of "Spiritual Growth in Light and Shadow - Seeing Love, Connection and Self from 'Boonie Bears'" on December 21st.
This activity takes the classic domestic animation "Boonie Bears" as the emotional carrier, guiding students to explore psychological issues during their growth process in a familiar story setting. The event conducted in-depth exchanges around three core dimensions:
In the "Accept Your Imperfect Self" session, students explored through the growth journey of the animated character Xiong Er how to deal with real-life pressures such as academic anxiety and appearance anxiety, and learn to reconcile with their imperfect selves.
The "Expression and Repair of Love" session focused on the narrative of family affection. Through the tortuous emotional bond between Mother Bear and Bear Big and Bear Two, the students deeply discussed the predicaments and breakthroughs of intergenerational communication. The specially arranged on-site interaction of "Your Best Friend Since the Start of the School Year" sparked discussions. Students shared the warm moments of getting to know their new friends one after another. Wang, a student, shared, "The figure who helped me get water during military training has now become the most important support force in my college life."
At the end of the activity, the counselor issued a "Connection Action Initiative" : encouraging students to record one "little thing I did well today" every day, make an "emotional call" to their families once a week, and actively discover and praise the bright spots of their friends around them. These specific and actionable suggestions transform psychological care into daily practice.
This evening roll call event conducts mental health education in a way that closely meets students' emotional needs, and builds a bridge of emotional resonance through light and shadow narratives. The activity not only created a warm and inclusive collective atmosphere, but also enabled the students to gain emotional support and growth strength through communication. The college will continue to build a warm and profound mental health education platform, accompanying students through every step of their growth and jointly creating a warm, positive and mutually supportive campus cultural atmosphere.
