On December 3rd, at the "Cruise Ships Are Here - 2025 High-Quality Development Forum of the Cruise Industry", the list of winners of the "First Large Cruise Ship Innovation and Creativity Competition" was officially announced. This competition was guided by the China Shipbuilding Society and jointly organized by the Shanghai Society of Ship and Ocean Engineering, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and other units. It attracted 309 teams from 34 universities across the country, including Tsinghua University and Tongji University.
This competition is centered around three major themes: "Thematic Elements and Artistic Design", "Exterior Styling and Painting", and "Interior Functional Area Design". It aims to inspire young students' creative enthusiasm for cruise ship design and inject youthful creativity into the localization and high-quality development of China's cruise industry.
Two teams selected by Shanghai Maritime University stood out in the fierce national competition with their outstanding performance and won one third prize and one merit award in the competition.
President Chu Beiping was invited to attend the forum and the release and award ceremony of the competition results. He encouraged the winning teachers and students, hoping that they would continue to explore new possibilities in cruise ship design in dimensions such as functional aesthetics, green technology, and humanistic experience, and contribute the strength of Ocean University to the domestic cruise ship project.
The third-prize work "Star Dream Navigator" was completed by students Sun Zhaoyu, Cheng Rong, Lu Nan, Qiu Tianheng, Qiang Dawei, etc. Gao Pan and Zeng Ji served as the instructors. Inspired by the culture of the starry sky, this work is based on the high-quality development needs of the cruise industry. It integrates ship design, artistic aesthetics and engineering technology to complete a creative solution that is both culturally rich and feasible in design, demonstrating the solid professional quality and interdisciplinary innovation ability of the participating team.
In recent years, the school's cruise research team has continuously devoted itself to the scientific research and technological innovation of domestic cruise ships. This award not only affirms the professional capabilities of teachers and students, but also vividly demonstrates the school's deepening of industry-education integration and its emphasis on the cultivation of engineering practice and innovation capabilities.
