To promote communication and growth among female teachers and students in the field of engineering and build an intergenerational support and co-progress system, the College of Marine Science and Engineering held a theme academic atmosphere construction activity titled "Her Voice Soars: Intergenerational Experience Dialogue and Career Empowerment" on December 3, 2025. The event invited Teacher Gu Xiyuan from the Port and Shipping Department, Teacher Huang Shiyu from the Materials Department, Teacher Peng Yujie, the counselor, and female representatives of different age groups from undergraduate and postgraduate students to participate together. They had in-depth exchanges on growth paths and career development. The salon was hosted by Zhu Diyao, a counselor of the college.

During the event, three teachers respectively shared their profound insights in the field of engineering from the perspectives of practice, academia and education. Teacher Gu Xiyan, with the main theme of "Embracing Change and Moving Forward with Confidence", vividly expounded on the importance of maintaining openness and resilience in technological iteration and role transformation by drawing on her own experience of transitioning from learning to teaching. She encouraged young women not to be confined by established paths, to seek opportunities in changes, and to build confidence through attempts. Teacher Huang Shiyu, with "self-consistency and happiness power" as the key words, connected all her life stages from studying to teaching, and proposed that while engineering women focus on academic and career development, they should also cultivate the ability of inner balance and perception of happiness. Teacher Peng Yujie, by meticulously reviewing her own academic and career choice journey, encouraged the students to lay a solid professional foundation. Especially when facing cross-disciplinary challenges or stereotypes, they should have a clear understanding and firm courage to forge their own paths.

During the subsequent roundtable discussion, the students used keywords such as "passion", "challenge", and "opportunity" as leads to share their vivid stories of their connection with engineering, showcasing the diverse facets and inner resilience of female engineering students. Centering on practical questions such as "How to choose the first job" and "How to showcase the advantages of women in an interview", teachers gave practical and warm responses from different life stages. The on-site interaction was lively, and the perspectives of different generations collided and merged here, jointly building a rich and meaningful spiritual collision.

The event concluded with a touching "envelope and flower box" handicraft session, symbolizing the transmission of warmth and hope. A flower and a letter carry not only encouragement but also the silent entrustment and continuation between generations.

This event not only provided an open and mutually supportive communication platform for female teachers and students in the college, but also enhanced the professional identity and growth confidence of the participants through the sharing of real experiences and the conduct of intergenerational dialogues. In the future, the college will continue to actively foster an inclusive, supportive and empowering college culture, assisting every female engineering student to forge ahead firmly and shine brightly on both academic and career paths.
