In response to the application trend of artificial intelligence technology in student affairs in colleges and universities, and to enhance the efficiency and service quality of counselors, on November 13, 2025, the College of Marine Science and Engineering organized a special learning session on AI counselor business. This study session was led by Teacher Lei Mengyu, with the participation of all the counselors of the college.
Teacher Lei Mengyu elaborated on key topics such as "Why AI counselors are needed, the definition and core characteristics of AI counselors, core functions and application scenarios". Combining practical cases of AI counselors from multiple universities, he elaborated in detail on the advantages of AI counselors in terms of reducing the burden of affairs, providing precise services, and offering data support. Meanwhile, Teacher Lei also demonstrated the operation of the AI counselor on the counselor end and the usage process of convenient consultation through channels such as wechat mini-programs on the student end.
The attending counselors engaged in an exchange and discussion on issues such as the collaborative model between AI counselors and traditional student work, as well as privacy and security guarantees. They all expressed that this learning experience clearly sorted out the application logic and practical value of AI counselors, providing new ideas for optimizing work processes and achieving personalized and precise services in the future.
Dong Chaoqun, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the college, emphasized in his summary that the full name of a counselor is "political counselor", and their fundamental responsibility lies in ideological guidance and growth service. AI counselors are tools to empower people rather than means to replace human labor. They must always take ideological and political guidance as the fundamental anchor point. We should make good use of AI technology to handle routine affairs, so that counselors can devote more energy to deeper and warmer ideological value guidance and personalized growth guidance, and truly fulfill the core mission of fostering virtue and nurturing talent.
