To further strengthen mental health education for students and enhance the mental health literacy and peer counseling capabilities of class leaders, on November 17th, the 2025 grade of the College of Marine Science and Engineering organized a special mental health training for class leaders with the theme of "Reject the Herd Effect and Don't Be a Blind Sheep". This training was led by Peng Yujie, a counselor from the college, and the core backbone members such as the class monitors of each class actively participated.

At the beginning of the training, Teacher Peng first pointed out the universality of the "herd effect" in campus life and its potential impact, stating that blindly following the crowd and lacking independent judgment may lead to problems such as psychological pressure, restricted personal growth, and even collective decision-making mistakes. She emphasized that as a class backbone, one should not only cultivate the ability of independent thinking and rational judgment oneself, but also play a positive leading role in the class, helping classmates identify and avoid falling into the psychological trap of blindly following the trend.

During the event, Teacher Peng analyzed the formation mechanism and manifestation of the "herd effect" in a simple and understandable way through vivid psychological experiment cases and real-life scenarios close to campus life. Meanwhile, this event included interactive discussion and role-playing sessions. The key members engaged in a lively discussion on topics such as "How to hold firm to one's own opinions under group pressure" and "How to guide classmates to make rational decisions", sharing the confusion and experiences they encountered in their work. Based on this, Teacher Peng imparted specific methods and communication skills for promoting critical thinking, encouraging diverse voices, and effectively intervening in irrational group behaviors.

The college has always regarded students' mental health as the top priority of its educational work. This special training session effectively empowered the class's core team, laying a solid foundation for them to better serve their classmates and safeguard their mental health. In the future, the college will continue to innovate its forms and build a more complete psychological support system to safeguard the all-round growth and healthy development of students.
