In order to further deepen labor practice education and explore the "theory + practice" education and training model for Communist Youth League members, recently, the College of Marine Science and Engineering organized the students of the Youth League School to visit the school's nursery base to carry out a theme labor practice activity. All the students of the college's Youth League School participated in 2025. This activity aims to guide trainees to hone their labor skills and cultivate a spirit of hard work through practice, and to establish the concept that "labor creates value and practice promotes growth".
This labor education session focused on the cleaning and basic maintenance of the nursery site. The nursery staff explained the key points of the work to the trainees, including clearing the weeds and debris around the seedlings, collecting all kinds of garbage in the designated area, and evenly applying fertilizer along the roots of the seedlings. After the explanation, the trainees were divided into groups to carry out practical operations. Some trainees bent down to clear the weeds between the seedlings, some were responsible for picking up the garbage in the site, and the rest carried out fertilization operations in an orderly manner. During the process, the trainees cooperated with each other, promptly consulted the staff about their questions, became familiar with the basic labor procedures in practice, and further refined their collaborative abilities.
As a supporting practical component of the ecological practice theory course in the Youth League School, this activity achieved a deep integration of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. It not only enabled the participants to break free from the limitations of the classroom and get close to nature, but also allowed them to experience the hardships of cultivation and the joy of harvest through hands-on labor, further strengthening their sense of responsibility and commitment. The on-site trainees were well-organized and full of energy. From theoretical learning to hands-on practice, they were fully focused and engaged throughout the process. Even with dirt on their fingertips and sweat on their foreheads, their enthusiasm remained undiminished, fully demonstrating the vigorous vitality of the young students.
After the event, the trainees all expressed that they would take this practice as an opportunity to integrate the spirit of concentration and hard work forged in labor into their studies and youth League affairs, fulfill the mission of the youth with concrete actions, and contribute to the construction of campus ecological civilization and the growth and success of the youth.
