To thoroughly implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent, on November 5, 2025, the College of Marine Science and Engineering held the fourth session of full-time teachers' on-duty Q&A activity in the one-stop student community of Building 60. This event invites Shi Jianhong, a teacher from the Environmental Science Department, to focus on the growth and development needs of students. Centering on key issues such as employment guidance, further education planning, and course learning, she will provide students with precise and personalized academic and development guidance.
During the event, Teacher Shi Jianhong systematically analyzed the employment prospects and development directions of the environmental major. She pointed out that the employment fields of environmental majors not only cover traditional directions such as exhaust gas treatment and wastewater treatment, but also include emerging fields such as the cross-application of big data and environmental engineering, innovative practices of Internet of Things technology in environmental monitoring, and carbon neutrality-related industries. Teacher Shi suggests that students obtain relevant professional qualification certificates based on their personal development directions to effectively enhance their employment competitiveness. When it comes to choosing employment units, she elaborated on government agencies such as ecological environment departments, public institutions like environmental monitoring centers, research institutions such as planning and design institutes, as well as environmental protection-related departments of various enterprises. She also pointed out that a master's degree offers more advantages in the workplace competition.
Teacher Shi Jianhong provided professional guidance and suggestions for the students regarding their college entrance planning. She emphasized that pursuing postgraduate studies is an important way to enhance professional capabilities and suggested that students clarify their target universities and major directions as early as possible and formulate scientific study plans. Whether applying to another school or choosing to pursue further studies at this school, it is necessary to plan ahead and make full preparations. For students who are interested in furthering their studies abroad, she suggests preparing for language tests and application materials as early as possible to seize the opportunity for studying abroad.
During the interactive Q&A session, students actively raised questions, covering various aspects such as professional course study, internship and practical arrangements, and professional qualification certifications. Based on his own teaching experience and industry insights, Teacher Shi provided detailed answers one by one. In response to the common concerns among students regarding the learning difficulties of professional courses such as Analytical Chemistry, she shared effective learning methods and exam preparation strategies, emphasized the significance of academic performance in further education and development, and provided specific exam preparation suggestions and resource recommendations.
This event, through face-to-face communication between teachers and students, effectively addressed students' concerns regarding academic development and career planning. It is an important measure taken by the college to improve the student support service system and enhance the quality of talent cultivation. Subsequently, the college will continue to carry out a series of academic guidance activities to provide all-round support for students' growth and success.
