On November 5th, Liu Shoupei, the director of the Decision-making Consultation Committee of the CPC Deyang Municipal Committee and the Deyang Municipal Government of Sichuan Province, led a delegation to visit the College of Marine Science and Engineering of Shanghai Maritime University. Both sides held an exchange and discussion on cooperation in areas such as clean energy equipment and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Jin Yongxing, the former Party Secretary of the university, Wang Weiyi, the Party Secretary of the College of Marine Science and Engineering, and Feng Daolun, the Deputy Party Secretary and Dean of the College, attended the reception and participated in the symposium. At the exchange and discussion meeting, Jin Yongxing extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the Decision-making Consultation Committee of Deyang City and highlighted the achievements the school has made in serving the national strategy of building a maritime power and the development of the shipping industry. He expressed his hope that through this exchange, the school and Deyang City could complement each other's advantages in fields such as Marine engineering equipment manufacturing and jointly serve the strategic needs of the country. President Feng Daolun gave a detailed account of the development history and educational characteristics of the College of Marine Science and Engineering, highlighting the innovative achievements of the college in disciplines such as Marine materials science and engineering, Marine engineering equipment, and Marine environmental engineering. He systematically introduced the six high-level research teams established by the college and the breakthroughs they have made in cutting-edge fields such as deep-sea engineering materials and Marine clean energy equipment.
Director Liu Shoupei expressed his gratitude for the warm reception by the college and introduced the general situation of the economic and social development of Deyang City. He said that Deyang City has a profound historical heritage, a solid industrial foundation, and its fiscal revenue ranks among the top in the province. It also has a deep connection with Shanghai. Deyang City has a significant advantage in the field of energy equipment manufacturing. It has successfully developed the first 50,000kW gas turbine in China, which is highly consistent with Shanghai Maritime University in disciplines such as Marine engineering and clean energy, and there is broad space for cooperation. He hopes that both sides will further enhance exchanges and sincerely invites the leaders of the school and college to conduct on-site investigations in Deyang City to jointly seek development.
During the symposium, both sides engaged in a lively discussion on topics such as the manufacturing and transportation of offshore wind power equipment and offshore drilling rig technology. The relevant scientific research projects and achievements of the school were highly affirmed by the experts present. After in-depth communication, both sides unanimously agreed that in the future, they will deepen cooperation in fields such as Marine engineering and clean energy equipment, promote the integration of industry, academia and research as well as the transformation of achievements, and jointly serve the national strategy of building a maritime power and green development.
Before the meeting, Director Liu Shoupei and his team, accompanied by Professor Zeng Ji and Teacher Fan Chunhua, visited the college's scientific research and testing center. They gained a detailed understanding of the functions of each laboratory and the operation of large-scale precision experimental equipment. They also expressed their appreciation for the college's high-level scientific research team and rich achievements.
