In order to effectively advance the application work for the National Natural Science Foundation projects in 2026 and significantly increase the funding rate, on the afternoon of November 6th, the College of Marine Science and Engineering held a kick-off and exchange meeting for the application of the National Natural Science Foundation projects in 2026. Feng Daolun, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of the college, Guo Jiamin and Chao Zhiming, the vice presidents, attended the meeting. President Feng Daolun pointed out that under the backdrop of comprehensive reform in higher education, all the teachers in the college should be confident, adhere to taking practical problems as the orientation and industry and regional demands as the driving force, and in terms of research content, explain complex issues in a simple way and make profound principles solid, so as to achieve in-depth yet easy-to-understand explanations. At the same time, in daily scientific research, one should "emphasize accumulation, frequently sort out, and be good at summarizing", and proactively interact deeply with peer experts to continuously iterate research ideas.
At the meeting, three recipients of the National Natural Science Foundation Project, Guo Jiamin, Lyu Baoyi and Zhang Wenbing, shared their personal experiences. They systematically shared the "key points" for passing the meeting, including topic selection and conception, content structure, research foundation, material writing, graphic and textual presentation, field selection, and enhancing industry activity, based on their successful practices. They also emphasized that the application forms should closely revolve around the main responsibilities and business of the school and highlight the characteristics of the discipline. Achieve "early start, early planning, and early refinement".
Vice President Chao Zhiming summarized and analyzed the application situation of the National Natural Science Foundation projects in 2025, and provided a panoramic interpretation of the application policies for the National Natural Science Foundation projects in 2026, the use of the new application forms, outline design, AI tool assistance, preparatory work before application, and review rules.
