To further enhance the professional ability of the college counselors in dealing with students' psychological issues and ensure the healthy growth of students, on the morning of October 30th, the College of Marine Science and Engineering organized and held a key psychological case supervision meeting for the autumn semester in the 306 conference room. The meeting specially invited Teacher Dong Haitao from the school's psychological counseling center to provide on-site supervision, and all the counselors of the college participated in the discussion.
Two months after the start of the new autumn semester, students have gone through a transition and adaptation period from vacation life to campus study. The meeting focused on the typical psychological distress and potential risks that have emerged among students since the start of the school year, aiming to enhance the ability of counselors to identify, respond to and intervene in psychological crises through case studies.
During the supervision process, several counselors, in light of the situation of the grades they were responsible for after the start of the school term, reported on the key cases they were focusing on. Everyone elaborated in detail on the specific manifestations of students, the heart-to-heart talks and support measures that have been carried out, as well as the current confusions they are facing, centering on common problems such as students' adaptation difficulties, emotional fluctuations, interpersonal communication and academic pressure. Teacher Dong Haitao conducted in-depth yet easy-to-understand analysis and comments on each case. He particularly emphasized that during the crucial period of the beginning of the semester, it is necessary to proactively pay attention to the psychological dynamic changes of students and achieve early detection and early intervention. He guided the counselors to pay attention to applying empathy skills in their work, listen patiently to the students' voices, provide them with sufficient emotional support, help them smoothly get through the adaptation period of the new term, and on this basis, establish a stable trust relationship. At the same time, Teacher Dong also reaffirmed the importance of maintaining close and effective communication with families, with the aim of forming a joint force for home-school collaborative education.
This supervision meeting closely revolved around the key points of the new semester's work, was rich in content, and had lively discussions, providing valuable theoretical learning and practical guidance for the counselors. Teachers attending the meeting all expressed that they would apply what they had learned from supervision to their actual work, continuously pay attention to the psychological state of students, constantly improve the professional level of psychological education, and jointly create a warm, supportive and safe campus environment to ensure that students can engage in the new semester's study and life with a positive and healthy mindset.
