As the autumn deepens, emotions fill the vast ocean. On October 25th, the "Chasing Waves - Scholarship Program" of the College of Marine Science and Engineering officially set sail. That afternoon, the first ice-breaking dialogue between the "Blue Growth Mentors" and the freshmen of 2025 was held in each classroom, where wisdom and expectations collided and merged.

This plan takes "alumni empowerment and teacher-student progress together" as its core concept, innovatively establishing a long-term mutual assistance mechanism between alumni and current students. Through a three-dimensional system of "academic guidance + career empowerment + life leadership", it helps numerous students grow into new-era Marine talents with both professional qualities and social responsibility.

The mentors, drawing on their own career development experiences, delivered a wonderful lesson to the freshmen, covering aspects such as industry trends, skill demands, and life choices. Professor Fan Honglin, an alumnus of the 14th grade in the field of port and shipping logistics, delivered a presentation titled "Opportunities and Challenges in the Era of Intelligent Shipping", analyzing the capability requirements for practitioners brought about by technological changes. Shen Xufeng, an alumnus of the 2006 class majoring in Environmental engineering, helped the freshmen establish a professional value perception by deeply analyzing the employment landscape of the industry. During the interactive session, the freshmen actively raised questions on issues such as "Personal Development under the strategy of building a maritime power". The class advisors provided detailed answers through case sharing and experience sharing, and the scene was filled with frequent sparks of thought.

"The professional stories of the mentors allow us to touch the surging pulse of the Marine cause and more deeply understand the responsibility and commitment of the students of Ocean University in the new era. The freshmen expressed in their speech: "We will take our alumni as role models and stand at the forefront of the journey of knowing, loving and strengthening the sea!"

The "Chasing Waves - Education Assistance Program" is an innovative practice to deepen the "all-round education" approach. The industry insights and hard work stories of alumni will effectively inspire students' professional sense of mission and career ideals, allowing the sentiment of "managing the ocean and serving the country" to take root in their hearts. In the future, the College of Marine Science and Engineering will take the sea as its scroll and dreams as its pen, and join hands with alumni and students to jointly write a magnificent chapter in the era of the blue economy, allowing youth to shine with brilliant colors on the great journey of building a strong maritime country!
