On the afternoon of September 30, Vice President Yin Ming went to the College of Ocean Science and Engineering to conduct a special research on talent introduction, cultivation and international exchange. Relevant responsible persons from the University's Human Resources Department and International Exchange Office (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office) accompanied the research. Members of the college leadership team and relevant staff of the office participated in the research forum.
At the research meeting, the Party and government leadership team of the college expressed gratitude for the university's long-term care and guidance. They made a systematic report on the college's discipline construction, achievements in talent introduction and cultivation, and progress in international cooperation, while also objectively analyzing the prominent problems currently facing the college's development.
Vice President Yin Ming listened carefully to the report and had in-depth exchanges with the participants. In his concluding speech, he emphasized that as the core force of the university's marine discipline construction, the college should focus on the following key directions:
Fully leverage the opportunity of the "one university, one policy" in this round of comprehensive reform, adhere to the combination of "problem orientation" and "goal orientation", actively address practical bottlenecks, and promote reform with innovative thinking.
Intensify efforts in introducing and cultivating high-level talents. On the basis of continuously recruiting outstanding young teachers, strive to cultivate national-level leading talents and high-end industry talents. Guide organized scientific research through high-level talents, strengthen interdisciplinary integration, create landmark achievements, and continuously contribute to the university's scientific research work.
Rely on the disciplinary advantages such as "Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering", strengthen the construction of an international faculty team, focus on cultivating core teachers with both professional capabilities and full English teaching proficiency, and enhance the ability of international cooperation and exchanges.
Organize and promote international cooperation in a structured manner, integrate enterprise and industry resources, expand exchanges with institutions in countries along the "Belt and Road", and demonstrate greater responsibility in serving the national strategies of building a maritime power and a transportation power, as well as the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
Ruan Wei, Director of the International Exchange Office (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office), provided guidance to the college on international exchange work with a focus on deepening international cooperation and exchanges. He hoped the college would achieve new breakthroughs in international student enrollment, cooperation with high-level institutions, and joint platform construction with international organizations and laboratories. Yao Yufeng, Director of the Human Resources Department, together with Deputy Directors Wang Tianzhen and Zhang Shanjie, put forward specific suggestions on the introduction of high-level talents, optimization of the faculty structure, construction of teachers' ethics and morality, and development of postdoctoral research stations. They emphasized the need to accurately align with disciplinary characteristics and build a better platform for talent development.
