On the afternoon of September 30th, Vice President Yin Ming visited the College of Marine Science and Engineering to conduct a special investigation on talent introduction and cultivation as well as international exchanges. The relevant responsible persons from the university's Personnel Department and the International Exchange Office (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) accompanied the research. Members of the college's leadership team and relevant personnel from the office participated in the research and discussion.

At the research meeting, the Party and administrative leadership of the college expressed their gratitude to the school for its continuous care and guidance. They also made a systematic report on the college's discipline construction, the achievements in talent introduction and cultivation, and the progress of international cooperation. At the same time, they objectively analyzed the prominent problems currently faced by the college's development.

Vice President Yin Ming listened to the report carefully and had in-depth exchanges with the participants. In his concluding remarks, he emphasized that as the core force in the construction of Marine disciplines in the university, the college should focus on the following key directions: First, make full use of the opportunity of this round of comprehensive reform with the "one university, one policy" approach, adhere to the combination of "problem-oriented" and "goal-driven" approaches, actively break through practical bottlenecks, and promote reform with innovative thinking. Second, we will intensify efforts to attract and cultivate high-level talents. On the basis of continuously introducing outstanding young teachers, we will focus on fostering national leading talents and high-end talents in the industry. Through the guidance of high-level talents in organized research, we will strengthen interdisciplinary research, create landmark achievements, and continuously contribute to the school's research work. Third, relying on the advantages of disciplines such as "Ship and Ocean Engineering", we will strengthen the construction of an internationalized teaching staff, focus on cultivating backbone teachers with both professional capabilities and the ability to teach in English, and enhance the capacity for international cooperation and exchange. Fourth, we will promote international cooperation in an organized manner, integrate enterprise and industry resources, expand exchanges with universities along the Belt and Road, and demonstrate greater responsibility in serving the national strategies of building a maritime power and a transportation power as well as the construction of Shanghai as an international shipping center.

Ruan Wei, Director of the International Exchange Office (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs), provided guidance on deepening international exchanges and cooperation and expressed the hope that the college would achieve new breakthroughs in areas such as the recruitment of international students, cooperation with high-level institutions, and the joint construction of platforms with international organizations and laboratories. Yao Yufeng, the director of the Personnel Department, Wang Tianzhen, the deputy director, and Zhang Shanjie, the deputy director, put forward specific suggestions on the introduction of high-level talents, the optimization of the teaching staff structure, the construction of teachers' ethics and style, and the establishment of postdoctoral research stations.
