To help the 2025 freshmen of the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering major gain an in-depth understanding of the discipline's connotation and development prospects, and strengthen their sense of identity and belonging to the major, Professor Xiong Zhixin, Dean of the Department, and Teacher Liu Dongxi, a young teacher, jointly attended the professional meeting on September 21st. They talked with all the freshmen of the major about the new chapter of university life.
First, Professor Xiong Zhixin extended a warm welcome to the arrival of the 2025 freshmen. Centering on key dimensions such as professional positioning, teaching management, faculty team, and training achievements, he systematically introduced the construction progress and disciplinary advantages of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, which is a national first-class undergraduate major. With detailed data and vivid cases, Professor Xiong helped students establish a systematic understanding of the major. He also encouraged them to find a development direction suitable for themselves during the four-year study, solidify their professional foundation, and lay a solid groundwork for contributing to the construction of a maritime power in the future.
During the teacher-student communication session, freshmen actively raised questions covering aspects such as curriculum structure, research training, employment orientation, and industry development trends. Combining his own research and teaching experience, Teacher Liu Dongxi answered the students' questions one by one with a rigorous academic attitude and clear logic. The on-site interaction was enthusiastic with constant applause, and the harmonious atmosphere narrowed the distance between teachers and students while enhancing the freshmen's sense of identity with the major.
To promote communication and integration among freshmen, a special "Ice-Breaking Activity" was arranged in this meeting, which effectively enhanced the cohesion of the freshmen majoring in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.
This professional meeting was not only a professional enlightenment, but also a warm collective gathering. It marks the official start of the college life for the 2025 students majoring in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, laying a solid foundation for them to jointly pursue their blue dreams.
