Students from Shanghai Maritime University achieved excellent results in the 14th National Marine Vehicle Design and Manufacturing Competition

Recently, the final of the 14th National Marine Vehicle Design and Manufacturing Competition was held at Wuhan University of Technology. The school's participating teams achieved remarkable results. After going through the internal selection and the Yangtze River Delta regional competition, over 40 teams advanced to the national final. After two days of intense competition, the school's participating teams won 3 special prizes, 5 first prizes and 12 second prizes.

Since September 2024, a team of event organizers and instructors composed of the School of Marine Science and Engineering, Xu Beihong Art College, and Merchant Marine College has been actively carrying out recruitment and training work. During the summer vacation of 2025, the participating students, undaunted by the scorching heat, persisted in preparing for the competition and fought bravely. Eventually, a total of 20 teams stood out in the national finals and achieved outstanding results.

This event is guided by the China Association for Science and Technology and jointly organized by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, the China Society of Shipbuilding Engineers, and the International Organization for Ship and Ocean Engineering Innovation and Cooperation, with support from the China Association of Higher Education. The purpose and objective of the competition is to "Revere science, seek knowledge through practice, be innovative, face the ocean, and serve national defense". At present, this competition has become the highest-level, largest-scale and most extensive competition in the field of ship and ocean engineering in China, representing the highest level of college students' subject competitions in this field in the country.

This competition is open to universities and research institutions and is divided into seven categories: innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, design and production, smart ship and Marine engineering technology, simulation production of famous ship and warship models, ship model racing, sailboat model racing, and Marine knowledge competition. The entries cover the cutting-edge and hot fields of Marine science and technology such as intelligent navigation, green power, deep-sea exploration, and new materials. This year's competition attracted nearly 400 universities and research institutions, 3,345 teams and over 16,000 teachers and students to participate.
