On June 5, 2025, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the establishment of Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., Dong Chaoqun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marine Science and Engineering, and Zheng Qiao, a teacher from the Career Guidance Center, led all the counselors and student representatives of Haike into Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group to carry out the special action of Shanghai Maritime University's Hongzhi Navigation Plan to visit enterprises and expand their posts and enterprise practice learning.
As the cradle of China's shipbuilding industry, Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group brings a shocking experience to teachers and students with the parallel teaching scene of historical innovation. In the group's exhibition history hall, yellowed historical archives, precious old photos and physical models vividly reproduce the struggle of Jiangnan Shipbuilding since its establishment in 1865. From the construction of China's first military ship during the Westernization Movement to the construction of a number of national heavy weapons after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the major breakthroughs and milestones in the past hundred years have given students a deep understanding of the profound heritage of China's shipbuilding industry. In the digital shipbuilding laboratory, the application of cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins, intelligent welding robots, and AI-aided design systems intuitively shows the innovative practice of Jiangnan Shipbuilding to move towards Smart Shipbuilding 4.0.
In the special discussion session, the school and the enterprise carried out in-depth exchanges. Zhu Lin, deputy director of the human resources department of Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group, interpreted the demand direction of the shipbuilding industry for high-end compound talents in combination with the strategic layout of the enterprise, and shared the group's talent training model of production, education, research and application. Alumni Su Qiang, Li Renwei and Chen Leiting combined their own growth experience from campus to the workplace, focusing on topics such as ship design innovation, project management practice, and industry development trends, to provide career planning suggestions for younger students.
During the interactive exchange, the students had a heated discussion with the enterprise representatives on hot issues such as research and development of green and low-carbon technologies for ships and talent capability demand for digital shipbuilding. The Modular Shipbuilding Process Optimization Scheme proposed by Zhou Yi, a 2024 master's student in the design and manufacture of ships and marine structures, has been highly recognized by on-site engineers, fully demonstrating the solid professional foundation and innovation consciousness of the students of Haihai University.
The event took the 100-year-old shipping enterprise as a vivid teaching material, and deeply integrated historical inheritance education with cutting-edge technology learning. Through the three-dimensional teaching mode of on-site observation, technical seminars, and alumni dialogues, it not only builds a bridge for the co-cultivation of talents between schools and enterprises, but also stimulates the sense of mission of young students to devote themselves to the construction of a maritime power.
