In order to further create a good academic atmosphere and improve the scientific research literacy of undergraduates, on May 28, 2025, the School of Marine Science and Engineering launched the Deep Blue Scientific Research afternoon tea activity. As an important part of the college's academic style construction month, this activity was presided over by teacher Xu Ling, and specially invited Zhao Shan, secretary of the party branch of the Hong Kong Water Conservancy Master's degree, and Lin En and Gao Zihong, representatives of outstanding graduate students of the college, to share and guide on the theme of how undergraduates participate in and carry out scientific and technological innovation.
The atmosphere of the event was warm, and the interaction between teachers and students was frequent. Based on their own experiences, the graduate students shared the growth and harvest of participating in scientific research projects. They said that science and technology innovation can not only improve software operation capabilities, but also broaden employment horizons and accumulate practical experience, which is a rare growth opportunity during college. At the same time, they also encouraged students not to be discouraged by the lofty of scientific research, and social science projects are also a good entry point, and there are multiple tracks to explore options.
Teacher Zhao Shan pointed out that at the undergraduate level, it is necessary to actively participate in various activities of the college, grasp the opportunity of in-depth communication with outstanding seniors and professional teachers, plan in advance, clarify the direction, take the initiative to explore and practice. The teacher can point the way, but what is more important is the commitment and persistence of the students themselves.
This Deep Blue Scientific Research afternoon tea activity not only built a platform for students to communicate and exchange, but also further stimulated everyone's enthusiasm for participating in the practice of science and technology. In the future, the college will continue to promote a series of academic style construction activities to help students grow in an all-round way and develop with high quality.
