In order to effectively guide students to carry out summer social practice, the School of Marine Science and Engineering successfully held the 2025 summer Unveiling the Leader key social practice project defense meeting on the morning of May 23, 2025. Professor Liu Xingpo and Associate Professor Chen Lisu of the Department of Environment, Associate Professor Zhang Jie of the Department of Port and Shipping, Dr. Liu Guangzhong of the Department of Naval Architecture, and Professor He Haibo, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the College, were specially invited to form a mentor team to check and orient the project.
The special practice project of unveiling the leader adheres to the principle of industry questions, teachers and students answer together, guided by the needs of maritime powers, with competition and cooperation mechanisms as the means, and with the goal of solving practical problems. Young teachers publish hero posts based on industry observation and professional background, and students are free to form teams to unveil the list and apply. At the defense meeting, the students formed a team around seven key topics, focusing on how to effectively transform scientific research ideas into practical research, and elaborated on the advantages of the project and the specific implementation plan.
The mentor team provided precise guidance for each project. Professor Liu Xingpo reminded students to pay attention to industry hotspots, grasp the development trend, and actively incorporate the transformation of the three modernizations of the shipping industry into their professional learning and practical exploration. Associate Professor Zhang Jie emphasized the innovative presentation of research results, and suggested that emerging technologies should be combined to realize the visual expression of research results. From the perspective of environmental expertise, Associate Professor Chen Lisu advocated that the development of projects should focus on environmental friendliness. Dr. Liu Guangzhong reminded students of the naval architecture to closely combine their academic practice with the cutting-edge trends of the industry to ensure the practicability of the research plan. Mr. He Haibo started from the focus of social practice and scientific and technological innovation projects, emphasizing the practicality and operability of practical projects and highlighting social value.
With the core of accurate pulse and targeted improvement, the mentor team accurately pointed out the key points of the project and put forward optimization suggestions from a forward-looking perspective and practical vision. Through case deduction, it points out the practical path for cutting-edge topics such as green ship technology research and development, shipping carbon footprint tracking, effectively builds a bridge from practical exploration to achievement transformation, and lays a solid foundation for the smooth development of summer social practice.
