On May 20, 2025, the School of Marine Science and Engineering organized an open day for materials laboratories, attracting a group of first- and second-year materials students to participate. With the theme of Entering Materials Science and Exploring the Mysteries of Scientific Research, this event opened the door to the world of scientific research for students through field visits and interactive experiences.
Under the leadership of Ms. Wang Liping and several master's and doctoral seniors, the students visited various laboratories in turn, including experimental sites with different research directions such as material preparation and characterization analysis. In the demonstration of large-scale instruments and equipment, the seniors demonstrated the use of high-end scientific research equipment such as scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, and differential scanning calorimeter. Mr. Dong Yaohua demonstrated the performance of superhydrophobic coatings and industrial wastewater treatment technology for the students, so that the students could intuitively understand the practical application of scientific research results.
The students said: Seeing the seniors skillfully operating these precision instruments and explaining the details of scientific research projects makes me full of expectations for my future professional learning. Walking into the laboratory allows undergraduates to get in touch with the frontiers of scientific research, cultivate scientific thinking and innovation awareness, not only give students a more intuitive understanding of the major, but also stimulate their interest in participating in scientific research projects.
