In order to help students solve the dilemma of English learning and improve their language application ability, on the evening of May 11, the 2023 class of the School of Marine Science and Engineering held a late roll call activity with the theme of Efficient and Scientific Methodology in English in the Bangjian Lecture Hall, which was delivered by Wang Liping, a part-time counselor of the faculty and staff.
Combined with daily teaching, Mr. Wang pointed out that at present, college students generally fall into misunderstandings such as memorizing words and relying on mechanical repetition, listening training is detached from real scenes, and oral expression lacks practical support, and it is difficult for traditional sea of questions tactics to break through the bottleneck of language application. At the heart of language learning is improving listening resolution. In this regard, she proposed: use film and television drama clips, news podcasts and other materials to establish a sense of language, strengthen the ability to distinguish sounds through software reading, and improve the efficiency of information integration with the help of keyword capture and logical concatenation.
Through the analysis of scientific methodology and the demonstration of practical skills, this late roll call guides students to jump out of the inefficient learning cycle of English. The students said that they would formulate personalized learning plans based on their own weaknesses, improve their English application ability through systematic training, and build a solid language foundation for academic research and career development.
