On the afternoon of May 10, 2025, Gu Zehao, an English teacher from Pudong Foreign Chinese School affiliated to Shanghai Wai Chinese University, gave a special lecture entitled From 'Inefficient Hard Learning' to 'Scientific Breakthrough', English Learning Methods and Applications for the 10th Inspirational College Training Activity of Shanghai Maritime University in the Bangjian Lecture Hall.

At the beginning of the lecture, Mr. Gu opened with a vivid and interesting experience of cross-cultural collision, explaining the value of English learning to the students. By comparing the typical differences between China and the UK, Ms. Gu pointed out that English is not only a bridge for cross-cultural communication, but also a core competitiveness for participating in international competition.

The lecture focused on three dimensions: learning motivation (Why) - the multiple meanings from personal development to national strategy; Learning Content (What) - Segmentation of the differentiated needs of Academic English, Workplace English, and Life English; Learning Methods (How) - Build an immersive, scenario-based and efficient learning system. Ms. Gu emphasized: From understanding an international contract to giving an academic speech, English proficiency runs through the whole process of international talent growth. ”

This lecture, full of wisdom and laughter, not only refreshed the students' understanding of English learning, but also made everyone deeply understand the close relationship between language ability and career development. After the lecture, the students said that Mr. Gu's explanation was full of life wisdom and pointed out the direction for their language learning. I believe that this lecture will inspire more students to improve their English skills with a more open attitude and a more scientific approach, and grasp the development opportunities in the tide of globalization.
