To guide students in scientifically planning their university life, clarifying their growth direction, and enhancing their overall quality and core competitiveness, the College of Ocean Science and Engineering successfully held a themed evening roll call event on April 26, 2025, for the 2024 cohort of undergraduates titled How to 'Easily' Win at the Starting Line in University: Planning, Action, and Passion. The event was hosted by Teacher Xu Ling, with an invited presentation by Wu Ning, an outstanding student from the 2021 cohort who has excellent prospects for postgraduate study. In her presentation, Wu Ning focused on four themes: My Journey to Postgraduate Recommendation, University Planning: Setting Direction Early to Avoid Detours, Growth Path During Four Years of University, and Enjoying Life: University is a 'Theme Park' of Life, all of which were illustrated through her personal experiences in a systematic and vivid manner. In the section My Journey to Postgraduate Recommendation, Wu Ning discussed the competitive advantages brought by excellent academic performance, emphasized the importance of research and competition experiences in enhancing comprehensive strength, and pointed out the value of student work experience in developing communication and coordination skills. In the section University Planning: Setting Direction Early to Avoid Detours, she advised her peers to scientifically plan internships, civil service exams, and further studies based on their interests and career intentions to avoid inefficient trial and error and resource waste. Regarding Growth Path During Four Years of University, she summarized the growth trajectory as adapting to the environment and finding direction in the first year, enhancing skills and accumulating experience in the second year, focusing on goals and striving hard in the third year, and seeking steady success and a fulfilling conclusion in the fourth year, providing valuable references for her classmates. In the section Enjoying Life: University is a 'Theme Park' of Life, she encouraged everyone to create their own little happiness list on campus, boldly pursue the limited edition madness of youth, dedicate more attention and effort to hobbies and interests, and actively explore urban cultural life to enrich their university experience through diverse activities. This themed evening roll call was rich in content and logically structured, illuminating the direction for students' growth and development in university while also inspiring them with confidence and motivation to enjoy their youth in their strives and achieve their dreams through passion.
