On March 21, more than 100 second-year students from Zhangjiang Group Middle School visited the college laboratory in six batches to start a unique career cognitive experience activity. The teachers of the laboratory of the college have carefully prepared and carefully designed interactive experience projects, aiming to allow middle school students to experience the characteristics of their majors up close, immerse themselves in the charm of scientific research, and further broaden their career horizons.
Under the arrangement of the Youth League Committee of the college, the students visited the Marine Environment Laboratory, the Port and Shipping Experimental Center and the Marine Materials Analysis and Testing Center. In the marine environment laboratory, Mr. Yang Kailiang led the students to experience the water treatment pretreatment experiment, so that the students could understand the knowledge of water treatment and intuitively observe the water treatment process, which played a good demonstration role; In the port and shipping laboratory, Ms. Gu Xiyan used the self-circulating Bernoulli equation experiment, Reynolds experiment instrument and other experimental equipment in the hydraulics laboratory to demonstrate and simulate the water flow phenomenon in actual water conservancy projects, vividly explain the relevant principles, and let students feel the charm of water conservancy science through intuitive experimental demonstration and interactive experience; Walking into the marine materials analysis and testing center, the experimental teacher led the students into different laboratories, a variety of advanced instruments and equipment attracted the attention of the students, and the students also experienced the preparation of new materials and their performance tests under the guidance of the laboratory teachers.
This activity not only exposed the secondary school students to cutting-edge scientific research equipment and technology, but also stimulated their strong interest in scientific research and related careers, and enhanced their knowledge and understanding of related disciplines of Maritime University.
Relying on the science popularization base of the Institute of Navigation, the college has deepened and implemented the integration project of popular science and moral education in primary and secondary schools, and realized the organic interaction of scene-based visit and practical experience by going out and inviting in, so as to better popularize scientific knowledge, publicize maritime business cards, deepen the connection of science education in primary and secondary schools, serve more young people, and provide more opportunities for young people to get in touch with science, understand careers, dialogue and innovation, and help their growth and development.
