On the afternoon of March 12, the School of Marine Science and Engineering held the 19th "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, and the young teachers of the college, Zhao Shan, Ding Yi, Yu Qiang, Yuan Rui, Guo Zhangwei, Zhu Wenwu, Liu Guangzhong, Wang Hao, Zhang Wenbing, Song Ying, and Huang Shiyu served as judges.

The participating teams covered 4 tracks and submitted a total of 39 projects, covering many fields such as smart ships, green ports and shipping, ecological governance, safety emergency response, new material research and development, transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, etc., from macro industrial policy research to new technology application and invention, both theoretical research and model making, which fully demonstrated the persistent exploration and gradually strong innovation atmosphere of young students in their own professional fields.

At the defense site, the contestants comprehensively demonstrated the research background, technical route, practical innovation and social value of the design of the work through PPT display, physical model, video demonstration and other means. In the expert questioning session, the review team combined with the actual situation of each team and gave targeted guidance and suggestions from many aspects such as highlighting technological innovation, expanding application value, and improving the logic of argumentation.

In November last year, the Youth League Committee of the college took the lead in launching the publicity and solicitation of the in-college competition, and invited Xu Wenhao, deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee of Southeast University in charge of innovation and entrepreneurship, to guide the students in the preparation for the Challenge Cup, deeply analyzed the characteristics and key requirements of each track, and combined with how to do a good job in project cultivation, grasp the time node of the competition, and encourage more students to actively participate in the preparation for the competition. Wang Longhao, the team leader of Shanghai Jiao Tong University who won the first prize of the "Challenge Cup", was also invited to share his experience and experience in preparing for the competition with his own award-winning projects, so as to popularize the experience of participating in the competition, stimulate the enthusiasm of the students, and improve the competition ability.
