March 5, 2025 marks the 62nd anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong's inscription "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng" and the 26th "China Youth Volunteer Service Day". In order to deeply study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on further carrying out the activity of learning from Lei Feng, and cultivate and practice the core socialist values.
The Youth League branch of Class 231 in the major of Safety organized a theme class on "Inheriting the Spirit of Lei Feng and Practicing Volunteer Service" and a volunteer service activity in the cafeteria. Through the combination of theory and practice, it guided young students to understand the contemporary connotation of the spirit of Lei Feng and fulfill their responsibilities with practical actions.
Theme Class: Inheriting the Spirit of Lei Feng and Practicing Volunteer Service
In the morning, all the students in the branch gathered in Room 3B303 of the teaching building to carry out a theme class with the "Lei Feng Memorial Day" as the core. At the beginning of the activity, Luo Ruilai, the secretary of the Youth League branch, with the title of "Inheriting the Spirit of Lei Feng and Practicing Volunteer Service", called on the students to take volunteer service as a bond to convey warmth and responsibility by telling the life story of Comrade Lei Feng and the profound significance of the "Lei Feng Memorial Day".
Subsequently, the representative of the "2024 Outstanding Volunteer of the School of Ocean Science and Engineering" was invited to share his volunteer experience. He combined vivid cases such as campus services and encouraged the students to "start from the small things around them and make dedication a habit". The students all said that they would take the role model as a mirror and devote themselves to the wave of volunteer service.
Volunteer Practice: Serving on the Front Line of the Campus and Conveying the Warmth of Youth
In the afternoon, members of the branch went to Haixin Canteen in groups to carry out volunteer services. The students were divided into groups of 2 to 3 people, and they collaborated with each other to complete tasks such as washing dishes and wiping dining tables. Although the tasks were trivial, everyone always engaged with full enthusiasm. They carefully cleaned the residue and oil stains on the tables, patiently reminded their classmates to return the dinner trays, and took the initiative to assist the cafeteria aunts in tidying up the hygiene... Their busy figures became a beautiful scenery in the canteen.
After the activity, Chen Leheng, a student who participated in the volunteer service, said with emotion, "After experiencing the logistics work firsthand, I have a deeper understanding of the hard work and value of the workers. In the future, I will cherish food more and respect the labor achievements of others."
Summary and Prospect: Let the Spirit of Lei Feng Remain in Our Hearts Forever
This themed Youth League Day activity took "learning, thinking, practicing and comprehending" as the main line. By combining theoretical study with practical service, it deepened the students' understanding of the contemporary value of the Spirit of Lei Feng. The Youth League Branch of Class Safety 231 will continue to carry out regular volunteer activities, encouraging young students to base themselves on the campus and serve the society, so that the Spirit of Lei Feng will shine more brightly in the new era!
