On the afternoon of February 19th, the College of Marine Science and Engineering held a faculty meeting for the new semester. Wang Weiyi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, Feng Daolun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean, Dong Chaoqun, Deputy Secretary, Liu Jiahao, Vice Dean, and Guo Jiamin attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wang Weiyi.
The meeting comprehensively reviewed the achievements of the college's work in 2024 and analyzed in depth the current situation and challenges it faces. In accordance with the spirit of the Shanghai Education Conference, the college has clarified the work priorities for the new semester, focusing on the three core areas of "reform and development, initial aspirations for education, and teacher ethics construction" to promote high-quality development of the college.
Secretary Wang Weiyi, based on the spirit of the Shanghai Education Conference and the actual situation of the college, put forward three requirements: firstly, based on reform and development, pay attention to the effectiveness of education. We need to establish a comprehensive mechanism for tracking and evaluating the effectiveness of education, with a focus on monitoring the implementation of measures such as curriculum reform and innovative talent cultivation models, to ensure that the reforms are implemented effectively. We need to establish a cross departmental, cross unit, and cross disciplinary collaborative innovation organizational mechanism as soon as possible, strengthen organized scientific and technological research, and enhance our ability to serve national strategies.
The second is to never forget the original intention of education and pay attention to students' growth. All teachers should pay more attention to the "three in one" of shaping students' values, cultivating their abilities, and imparting knowledge. They should strengthen ideological and political education in the curriculum and case-based teaching, comprehensively focus on students' mental health, academic development, and career planning, and cultivate new era youth with good minds, sound personalities, and the ability to cope with various challenges calmly.
The third is to strictly abide by discipline and rules, and prevent the loss of professional ethics. Strictly implement the "Ten Guidelines for Professional Conduct of College Teachers in the New Era" and establish a sound long-term mechanism for the construction of teacher ethics and style. Carry out normalized teacher ethics warning education, create a clean and upright educational environment, and provide solid guarantees for the high-quality development of the college.
Dean Feng Daolun systematically summarized the significant progress made by the college in multiple key areas in 2024, and also assigned relevant work for the new semester. In terms of scientific research, the college has achieved breakthrough progress in scientific research work, with a significant increase in the proportion of assessment weights; We need to continue promoting the transformation of scientific research achievements to achieve a significant increase in intellectual property licensing and transfer income.
In terms of education and teaching, the college has deeply promoted the strategy of "scientific research feeding back teaching", focusing on implementing the talent cultivation quality improvement project, and has achieved excellent results in various innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. In addition, the college should actively promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and education, focus on building a forward-looking artificial intelligence curriculum system, and strengthen the organic integration of information technology and professional teaching.
In terms of educational conditions, the college will continue to increase investment between 2023 and 2024, significantly improving the office environment and experimental facilities, creating a higher quality teaching and research environment for teachers and students.
Looking ahead to the future, Dean Feng deeply analyzed the new situation and challenges faced by the college. He emphasized the need to adhere to a problem oriented approach, base on the actual needs of the industry, focus on conducting fundamental, authentic, forward-looking, and closed-loop research, continuously improve the ability to serve the development of the industry, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the college.
Dong Chaoqun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, and Liu Jiahao and Guo Jiamin, Vice Presidents, respectively assigned work tasks for this semester based on their respective responsibilities.
Finally, the college will conduct confidentiality education and training for the first quarter of 2025. Dean Feng Daolun first conveyed the latest document spirit of the superior department on confidentiality work, emphasizing the importance and urgency of doing a good job in confidentiality work under the new situation. He pointed out that with the rapid development of information technology and the complex changes in the international situation, confidentiality work is facing new challenges. All faculty and staff must raise their political stance, enhance their awareness of confidentiality, and strictly abide by confidentiality discipline. The training session also combined typical cases to deeply analyze the potential confidentiality risks in daily work, and put forward specific requirements on how to strengthen the management of scientific research data, academic achievements, and confidential information.
