In order to further strengthen the guidance of the college students on future career planning and development, understand the situation of port and shipping enterprises, and cultivate feelings and professional identity towards the sea, on December 4, the Youth League Committee of the College of Marine Science and Engineering organized young students to go to Yangshan Port for field visits and learning exchanges. Fan Honglin, a 2014 port channel and coastal engineering alumnus of Shengdong Company, warmly received the teachers and students and led them to visit the exhibition hall of Shengdong Company. In the exhibition hall, we learned about the development history of SIPG's automated terminal construction in XiaoYangshan North District from the opening of the first phase to the opening of the fourth phase to the present. Through a vivid historical construction comparison map and vivid three-dimensional model of Yangshan deep water port, we deeply felt the rapid development of China's shipping industry and the rapid construction of automated ports. Teachers and students overlook the entire Yangshan deep Water Port terminal at the Yangshan Port viewing platform, overlooking the loading and unloading process of 10,000-ton container cruise ships in the distance, and truly feel the grandeur of Yangshan deep Water Port. In the automatic container loading and unloading control studio, students closely watch the whole process of remote control container loading and unloading.
After the overall visit, the Youth League Committee of the College also carried out joint activities with the Shengdong Youth League Committee, and jointly studied the National Constitution Day theme propaganda video, and the alumni working in Shengdong Company had a harmonious communication with the students. The alumni introduced their current positions and specific work content to the students, and also shared their real experiences in learning and job hunting. The students asked the alumni questions about professional learning and personal career planning, and the alumni suggested that they should open their eyes and aim for all-round development in the learning process, and also cultivate their own skills in order to seize opportunities in the future development.
This activity made the students directly feel the vitality of the development of the national Marine cause, enhance the sense of professional identity and honor, and also have a clearer career plan for the future, and further realize that as a new youth in the new era, they must constantly improve themselves and contribute to the Marine cause and shipping cause of our country with practical actions.
