On November 22, 2024, some Party member teachers and students from the School of Marine Science and Engineering visited the East Museum of the Shanghai Museum to appreciate the artistic charm and cultural connotation of the history of bronzes. In the immersive visit and study, they understood the profound essence of the Two Combinations in Xi Jinping's cultural thought, and built momentum and energy for inheriting and promoting the essence of excellent Chinese culture.
Bronze ware, as a bright badge of the ancient Chinese society entering the threshold of civilization, is not only the condensation of the spiritual pursuit and power symbol of the noble class, but also the concentrated display of the wisdom and creativity of the Chinese nation. Each piece in the Bronze Museum is a story and a piece of history, which together weave a brilliant chapter of ancient Chinese civilization.
Under the guidance of the interpreters, the young teachers and students walked into the bronze hall. What echoed in their ears was the vicissitudes of bronze from bud to peak and then to decline. What is displayed in front of us is the glorious achievement of national handicraft with a long history and ingenuity. From the simplicity and solemn of Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, to the complexity and delicacy of the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, to the exquisite perfection of the middle Qing Dynasty, the exhibition hall as a whole slowly tells the ancient story in the form of a timeline, and the young teachers and students travel through the bronze art treasure house of different historical periods, deeply understanding those treasures bearing the cultural characteristics and integration of various ethnic groups in ancient China.
The calm and solemn of Da Ke Ding, the precise regulation of Shang Yang Fang Sheng, and the ingenuity of De Ding, each artifact is not only the crystallization of ancient people's skills and wisdom, but also a vivid portrayal of the spiritual style and cultural concept of that era. The mysterious majesty of the beast's face pattern, the clever flying of the dragon pattern, and the complex meaning of the Taoties pattern, behind each of these patterns, there lurks the ancient people's reverence for the nature, their love for life, and their understanding and expression of the order of the universe.
The student party members from the Party Branch of Marine Materials Graduate students took this opportunity to exchange and discuss the casting process of bronze materials with the docent, and improve their professional quality in the artistic edification. This activity has injected rich historical and cultural nourishment into the spiritual world of young teachers and students, and broadened their academic vision and humanistic feelings. In this glorious world made of bronze, the young teachers and students have deeply felt the profound and continuous Chinese civilization, stimulated their sense of responsibility and mission for the protection and inheritance of traditional culture, and laid a solid foundation for becoming the disseminators and guardians of excellent traditional Chinese culture in the future.
