On November 2, 2024, the Postgraduate Academic Forum Port and Marine Engineering Safety and Disaster Prevention was held online. The forum was hosted by the Shanghai Education Commission and jointly hosted by the Graduate School of Shanghai University and the College of Marine Science and Engineering. Yang Bin, Dean of the Graduate School of the University, Feng Daolun, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the school attended the forum.

The forum invited Chen Jinbo, Associate Professor of the School of Shipbuilding and Architectural Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tong Zhihua, General manager and chief engineer of Shanghai Zhongjiao Water Transport Design and Research Co., LTD., Wu Feng, deputy general manager of Shanghai Zhongjiao Shanghai Harbor Engineering Design and Research Institute, Liu Gaofeng, Researcher and Shen Qi, Associate researcher of Shanghai Estuarine and Coastal Science Research Center, and other experts and scholars to give special reports. The topics of the reports of experts and scholars covered many aspects of port and ocean engineering safety and disaster prevention, including comprehensive submarine geotechnical investigation based on geophysics and machine learning, new port hydraulic structures, new structural health monitoring and assessment technology for port engineering, research on sand consolidation and protection of Hengsha Shoal in the Yangtze River Estuary, and sediment problems in the construction of the first phase of the South Channel of the Yangtze River Estuary.

The Forum held five academic sub-forums, and the participating graduate students participated in academic exchanges through online means.

The Forum provides a platform for graduate students to have an in-depth understanding of port and Marine engineering safety and disaster prevention, and effectively improve their understanding and insight in the research field by listening to reports from experts and scholars and communicating with graduate students in the same field.

A total of 65 papers from Shanghai Maritime University were included in the forum, covering five topics: port and Marine geotechnical engineering, port and Marine engineering structural safety and durability, water resources regulation and water environmental pollution control, port and Marine hydrodynamic engineering theory and application.
