In order to encourage students to integrate their personal development into the overall development of the school and set up lofty ideals, on the evening of October 20, Class 2023 of the College of Marine Science and Engineering held a late ceremony in the Bangjian Lecture Hall with the theme of Knowing the school's situation, Loving the School, Thriving the School's Industry, and Taking the School's Glory. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China, as well as the 115th anniversary of China's higher Maritime Education and the founding of Shanghai Maritime University. In order to inspire students to love and honor the university, and to inherit and continue the spirit of the school motto of loyalty and respect, we first led everyone to review the roots and origins of Shanghai Maritime University. The basic situation of the College of Marine Science and Engineering was introduced in three aspects: Focusing on the comprehensive reform of 'three whole education', focusing on the improvement of the quality of Marine talent training, carrying out the construction of 'key Marine projects' based on Marine key fields, and promoting the inheritance and innovation of Marine culture based on serving the new area of Lingang. Let the students have a more comprehensive understanding of the school and the college, improve the sense of belonging to the school and professional recognition.
At the same time, in the context of the Internet, college students often find it difficult to distinguish between true and false information on the Internet, and often show an immature mind. Especially when they encounter online public opinions caused by hot spots and focal events inside and outside the campus, students are vulnerable to bad induction, which leads to ideological fluctuations and the spread of irrational emotions. Through the elaboration of the cases that have damaged the school in the past, it emphasizes the practical significance that students should start from me to love the school and honor the school. It is hoped that students can know the school, love the school, prosper the school, honor the school, be strict with themselves, be careful in words and deeds, and know the law and abide by the law.
This late name activity aims to enhance students' awareness of love and honor for the school, encourage students to participate more actively in the construction and development of the school, and show their love for the school with practical actions.
